My name is Meribeth Brocker-Querio, Maestra or Ms. Querio to the kids, and I have been an Elementary Spanish teacher here at L'Anse Creuse since 1998. After high school I traveled to Oaxaca, Mexico as a Rotary exchange student for one year. I attended The University of Arizona after my travels, to stay close to Mexico, but later transferred to Eastern Michigan University to earn my certification in bilingual-bicultural education.
OUR PROGRAM
Your student will experience Spanish once a week for 50 minutes. Through games, songs and stories, the children will be learning basic Spanish in addition to topics that relate to the general education curriculum. The students will also begin to develop an awareness of the culture of Spanish-speaking countries through stories, songs and projects. At this stage of their development, the focus is on oral and listening skills in Spanish.
